I’m a castle loving, vintage adoring thespian at heart with a penchant for time travel! I believe history provides context to the world around us. History can inspire, educate and help to create compassionate and understanding human beings. And, most of all, I believe in making history accessible to everyone.

That said, my background began in theatre. I studied Theatre Arts at Middlesex, a university renowned for producing many of the UK’s new and innovative collaborative theatre companies (It’s from here that I attribute my love for creating original work as part of a team!)  Since graduating 9 years ago, I’ve taught drama and Shakespeare in hundreds of primary schools across the UK. Alongside this, I began a career working with many of London's leading historic sites, including Historic Royal Palaces, The Museum of London, and The London Transport Museum, amongst many others, as a Presenter and Storyteller.

It was during lockdown in 2020 that I expanded my work to producing and presenting films for a family audience online. This came about when I gained a commission with Knebworth House to produce a children's web series, from which I pulled in the help of my brother, a videographer, and husband, an editor, and director. Working together as a team and seeing our creative ideas come to life on the screen was immensely exciting and satisfying. I was hooked!

From here I continued producing films, and alongside my husband we created Lauren Learns History, an edutainment YouTube channel of documentaries, exploring history for a family audience. I have produced and presented 25 documentaries to date, filming in museums and historic sites all over the UK, working with historians, actors, and historical interpreters.

On a more personal note, I’m a wife to my lovely husband, Ian, mum to our three-year-old son, Ernie, and live with two exceptionally naughty but lovable house rabbits, called Marmalade and Cottontail. I’m often asked, if I really had the ability to travel back in time to any period in history, where would it be? Well, I would have to pick the Georgians! I’m completely fascinated by the ludicrous mantua dresses, absurd wigs and funny face paint and I’d love to experience one of their extravagant balls! So that said, only if I was rich and only for a week. I am quite certain I wouldn’t do well much longer… :/

I love collaborating with like minded creative people! If you'd like to work with me or if you have a project you’d like to discuss, do drop me an email, I’d love to hear from you!
